Save your Sanity (& pocket book)
Lunch Bins.
Remember - one of the things you want to avoid at all cost is returning
to a grocery store during the week to pick up missing items. This tip
really helps.
Keep a large plastic lunch bin in your pantry or cupboard.
Fill this with a week's worth of lunch snacks which do not need to be
refrigerated
This is the DO NOT ENTER ZONE.
To eliminate stress when making snacks and cookies, keep some aside to
pull out for after school snacks. Once those run out, they will need to
snack on anything else - but NEVER the lunch bin snacks.
Do the same with a small bin in the refrigerator for snacks that need
to be refrigerated.
FOR TEENS THAT WON'T BRING A LUNCH OR EAT BREAKFAST
Here are a few tips;
Remind your teens that by allowing their bodies to fast too long they
are simply training their bodies to store fat, which can eventually increase
the chances for weight problems in the future.
If you would like to increase the chance of your teen eating breakfast;
Try washed cut fruit in a bowl or on a plate it will usually get eaten
- if it's easy to grab - it's grabbed.
The night before, fill a blender half full with fruit juice (nonsweetened)
and cut washed fruit - whatever you have on hand. In the morning simply
turn on the blender adding 1 ½ cup vanilla yogurt and 8 ice cubes-
blend together for a few minutes. This packs a lot of nutrition into 1
cup.
