Sandi's Bio

Sandi Richard is North America's Family Dinner Expert. She is the three-time award winning creator and host of Fixing Dinner on Food Network Canada, American Life TV and Discovery Asia.

Sandi was an overweight and overwhelmed working mom when she picked up a magazine article in a doctor's office that changed her life. The article explained that the misunderstanding of family dinners was a huge contributor to the North American obesity epidemic. This article prompted research, and her research gave birth to her credited Eating Forward System. Eating Forward is the concept that if you know what you are having for dinner at the beginning of the day, you know how to balance your eating during the day. Sandi lost 50 pounds while still cooking and eating family-friendly dinners that her kids loved, and felt the need to take the concept public.

The first book in the International Best Selling Cooking for the Rushed series based on the Eating Forward System was published in 1999, and since then Sandi has written a total of seven books in the popular series.

Sandi’s passion for understanding family dynamics does not end with Cooking for the Rushed! She has spent almost two decades researching the modern family! Sandi has become the go-to expert when it comes to understanding family dynamics, how the family copes and how they eat! She participates in product and recipe development, as well as product awareness, for corporate giants such as Unilever, ConAgra Foods, Starbucks, Rival Cookware, Whirlpool, S.C. Johnson and Ocean Spray.

In addition to being a regular guest expert on CityLine, Sandi has been a featured guest on Food Network US, and a repeat guest on NBC's The Today Show. She has contributed to numerous magazines including Reader's Digest, Eat Clean, Chatelaine, Woman's World and First for Women.

Sandi speaks to live audiences nationally, and is the co-founder of Kitchen Sink Media, a video production company dedicated to bringing product awareness to the family.

Sandi is also the co-founder of Kinect-ed, a national made-for-school program inspired by her passion for making dinner a family affair. Kinect-ed has pre-teens taking over the family kitchen and loving it! Sandi is a proud mother of seven and a grandmother of six.
